Energy Efficiency Day is part of a growing movement among leaders who are publicly declaring their commitment to reducing energy waste. More than 30 cities, counties and states issued official 2017 proclamations recognizing October 5 as Energy Efficiency Day—as did the U.S. Senate.

This year, we’re building on this momentum by inviting more elected officials to issue formal proclamations declaring October 5, 2018 as Energy Efficiency Day.

Together, we can create a groundswell of support for energy efficiency–which is now the third-largest US electricity resource. We’ll be showcasing all proclamations on the Energy Efficiency Day website. We’re encouraging local leaders to take a photo of the signing of their proclamation and post it on social media, using the hashtag #EEDay2018. These proclamations also provide a unique opportunity to educate the public about energy efficiency, because they’re often covered by local media.

Local officials may take time to respond, so the time to ask your local elected officials to issue a proclamation is NOW.
